PROOFREADING
I proofread your Dutch text while correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other errors. However, I do not make any significant changes to style or wording, as this would fall under post-editing. The result is an error-free document that is 100% ready for publication!
Used for: academic theses, school assignments, internally written/translated organisation or business documents
POST-EDITING
Post-editing goes a step further than proofreading. This means that I remove errors from an existing translation, but also check its content against the original source version, make style adjustments where necessary, and tailor the text to its target audience.
A specific aspect of post-editing is MTPE, where a machine-generated translation is the starting point for this optimisation process. However, MTPE is not always the most efficient option, and often more time-consuming than a traditional translation.
Used for: thorough proofreading and adaptation of existing texts or translations, checking content against its source language, post-editing of machine translations
TRANSCREATION
This combines ‘translating’ and ‘creating’: a bit of copywriting whilst translating, in other words. The result is a sparkling, creative translation – not a literal one – that gives the original message a fresh new look, perfectly tailored to the desired target audience.
Used for: commercial or website translations, company portfolios, leaflets, brochures
COPYWRITING
I write your story. Firstly, I listen very carefully: what is the product, service, or message that you want to share with the world? Who is your target audience, what is your tone of voice? Eventually, with this information and in constant consultation with you, I craft a personalised text that is adapted to your objectives for maximum impact.
Used for: websites, leaflets, brochures, rebranding, catalogues, customer communications
TRANSCRIPTION
However speech-to-text technology already exists today, it still struggles with subtlety, context, double meanings, and so on. This is why it is so important to engage a human language professional to transcribe your audio/video files when errors are not an option.
Used for: meeting minutes, video subtitling, event audio recordings
LOCALISATION
A text that works in The Netherlands does not necessarily work in Flanders. On the contrary: the use of ‘Netherlands-Dutch’ language could alienate a Flemish target audience, and vice versa. This is why I would be happy to help you tailor your Dutch text perfectly to your target audience.
Used for: commercial texts, user manuals, website content, catalogues, subtitling, book translations
